“Are you ready for some football?”

That’s right, NFL football season is here once again and it’s time to worry about having the perfect game day snacks. And no game day is complete without chicken wings, one of the most popular game day foods.

Wings are so popular, the National Chicken Council claims, Americans eat over 25 billion pounds of them a year, with 1.25 billion pounds eaten on Superbowl weekend alone. Because of their popularity, size and only two per chicken, they also have become one of the most expensive pieces of chicken in the US.

I’m not sure why wings are so popular in the US. Maybe it’s the primal feeling you get when you’re gnawing on one. Maybe it was a great marketing tactic back in the day. Or of course, it could just be that they are so yummy. Regardless the reason, Americans are now hooked on chicken wings.

Whether you deep fry, bake, steam blanch or grill them, one of the most important decisions about your wings is the sauce.

One flavor or two, or maybe even three! It’s all about  impressing everyone with your game day food choices. Of course, you could always use straight out of the bottle wing sauce. And while there are good bottled sauces available, if you really want to impress your friends, you need to make your own sauce.

That’s where I’m here to help! I’ve compiled 12 tasty and yummy wing sauce recipes ranging from spicy-sweet to spicy-hot, some easy and some are little more complicated. Your hardest decision will be choosing which one or ones to make.
